# Calendar.lt > Lithuanian calendar website providing daily information for every date: public holidays, name days, astronomical data (sunrise, sunset, moon phase, zodiac), weather, historical events, and daily quotes — available in Lithuanian, English, Polish, and Russian. Calendar.lt is a free public calendar service focused on Lithuania. It covers all Lithuanian public holidays (with non-working day flags), Catholic and traditional folk celebrations, international awareness days, and personal name days. All content is available in four languages (lt, en, pl, ru) via URL prefixes. Date URLs always use zero-padded month and day (e.g. /2026/05/07, not /2026/5/7). ## Key pages - [Today](https://calendar.lt/): Redirects (302) to today's date card with full day information - [Any date (LT)](https://calendar.lt/2026/05/21): Day view — /{year}/{month}/{day} - [Any date (EN)](https://calendar.lt/en/2026/05/21): /en/{year}/{month}/{day} - [Any date (PL)](https://calendar.lt/pl/2026/05/21): /pl/{year}/{month}/{day} - [Any date (RU)](https://calendar.lt/ru/2026/05/21): /ru/{year}/{month}/{day} - [Monthly view](https://calendar.lt/2026/05): Month overview — /{year}/{month} - [Holidays](https://calendar.lt/holidays): Full list of all holidays in the database - [Search](https://calendar.lt/search?q=): Full-text search across holidays, events, and name days - [FAQ / Kada? All answers are computed from real holiday data and update automatically each year. URL patterns: - Current year (canonical): `/klausimai` (LT), `/en/faq`, `/pl/faq`, `/ru/faq` - Specific year: `/klausimai/{year}` (LT), `/{lang}/faq/{year}` (EN/PL/RU) - Valid year range: 2020–2099. Years outside this range return 404. - The no-suffix URL always shows the current year. `/klausimai/2026` and `/klausimai` show identical content in 2026, but `/klausimai` is the canonical. - The language switcher preserves the year when switching languages (e.g. `/en/faq/2027` → `/pl/faq/2027`). - Hreflang is set correctly across all year variants in the sitemap. Questions answered (all dynamically computed for the current year): - When is Catholic Easter? - When is Orthodox Easter? (Julian calendar algorithm, converted to Gregorian, +13 days) - When is Ash Wednesday / Popielec / Środa Popielcowa? (Easter − 46 days) - When is Shrove Tuesday / Zapusty / Użgavėnės? (Easter − 47 days) - When is Mother's Day / Father's Day / Children's Day? - When is Valentine's Day? (14 February, fixed) - When is the Annunciation / Zwiastowanie / Благовещение? (25 March, fixed) - When is Corpus Christi / Boże Ciało / Devintinės? - When do clocks go forward / back (DST)? - Best days to plant tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, potatoes (waxing/waning moon)? - Best days to cut hair for faster / slower growth (moon phases)? Includes FAQPage schema.org markup for Google rich results. ## Name days by letter (vardadieniai pagal raidę) An A–Ž index of every name in the name-day calendar, grouped by first letter, targeting "vardadieniai pagal raidę" and equivalent searches in each language. Each language version covers its own culturally-specific name-day calendar: Lithuanian (LT), international/Catholic (EN), Polish/imieniny (PL), and Russian Orthodox/именины (RU). URL patterns: - Index page: `/vardadieniai-pagal-raide` (LT), `/en/name-days-by-letter`, `/pl/imieniny-na-litere`, `/ru/imeniny-po-alfavitu` — a grid of all letters with the count of names starting with each letter; letters with no names are shown disabled. - Per-letter page: `{index}/{letter}` (e.g. `/vardadieniai-pagal-raide/a`, `/en/name-days-by-letter/a`) — lists every name starting with that letter, gender-tagged (male/female), each linking to the date page (`/{year}/{month}/{day}`) where that name's name day is celebrated this year. - Letters with zero names return 404. The index pages are equivalent across all four languages (full hreflang). Per-letter pages have language-specific name lists and are self-referential only (no cross-language hreflang). Includes `CollectionPage` + `ItemList` schema.org markup (and `BreadcrumbList` on per-letter pages). ## Month holiday hubs (šventės pagal mėnesį) 12 month-based landing pages per language (48 total), targeting "šventės [mėnuo]"-style searches (e.g. "šventės birželį", "sventes birzelio menesi", "holidays in June", "święta w czerwcu", "праздники в июне"). Each page lists that month's holidays with exact dates, plus Labour Code Art. 113 (DK 113 str.) shortened-workday context. URL patterns (canonical is always year-less; an optional `/{year}` suffix renders a specific year's holiday list under the same year-less canonical): - LT: `/sventes/{month}` — e.g. `/sventes/sausis` … `/sventes/gruodis` - EN: `/en/holidays/{month}` — e.g. `/en/holidays/january` … `/en/holidays/december` - PL: `/pl/swieta/{month}` — e.g. `/pl/swieta/styczen` … `/pl/swieta/grudzien` - RU: `/ru/prazdniki/{month}` — e.g. `/ru/prazdniki/yanvar` … `/ru/prazdniki/dekabr` Each page includes: a flat list of that month's holidays (linking to `/{year}/{month}/{day}`), a legal/working-hours section noting which workdays are shortened by 1 hour under Labour Code Art. 113 because the following day is a non-working holiday, and a 12-month navigation grid linking to all other months. Includes `CollectionPage` + `ItemList`, `FAQPage` (for non-working holidays that month), and `BreadcrumbList` schema.org markup. ## Structured data (schema.org) Every day page includes: - `WebSite` with `SearchAction` (sitelinks search box) - `WebPage` with optional `Event` (for holidays) - `FAQPage` (holiday, name day, moon phase questions) - `BreadcrumbList` (Home > Month > Day) - `Event` schemas for user-submitted calendar events ## Public API Base: `https://calendar.lt/api/v1` - `GET /laisvadienis?date=YYYY-MM-DD` — returns whether a date is a non-working day (public, no auth) - `GET /name-days?date=YYYY-MM-DD&lang=lt` — name days for a date (API key required) - `GET /day?date=YYYY-MM-DD&lang=lt` — full day data (API key required) ## Language support All content accessible in four languages via URL prefix: - Lithuanian (default): `https://calendar.lt/...` - English: `https://calendar.lt/en/...` - Polish: `https://calendar.lt/pl/...` - Russian: `https://calendar.lt/ru/...` Each language version has its own canonical URL and is listed in hreflang tags. Lithuanian is `x-default`.
